BREAST ENLARGEMENT (Augmentation Mammaplasty)

Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. Currently, implants remain the safest and most effective way of enlarging breasts. Implants are typically placed under the breast and pectoralis muscle using a small incision. During our consultation, we will use multiple actual breast sizers and a thorough analysis of body type to determine the best implant size.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT BREAST AUGMETATION

    What does the procedure accomplish?
  • It enhances the body contour for women who feel their breasts are too small.
  • It can correct the reduction in breast volume after pregnancy or weight loss.
  • It can also balance different size breasts.
What can I expect after surgery?
  • You will be able to use your arms for activities of daily living for the first two weeks.
  • No heavy lifting or overhead arm activities for the first four to six weeks.
  • No arm aerobic activities for the first six weeks.
  • You may have a burning sensation or numbness within the nipples.
  • You will be slightly swollen and bruised for the first two weeks.
Will I be awake during surgery?
  • The procedure may be performed using either general or twilight anesthesia.
  • We recommend general anesthesia so you will be more comfortable.
  •

BREAST LIFT(Mastopexy)

Due to childbirth or other factors, breasts can sag or lose volume. During a breast lift, excess skin is removed and the nipple is repositioned for a more aesthetic appearance. Often an implant is also necessary to achieving optimum results.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT BREAST LIFTS

How Long does the procedure take?
  • Generally, the surgery takes from two to three hours.
    What does it accomplish?
  • It will raise the breast tissue along with the nipple and areola.
  • It will reshape the breasts for a more youthful appearance.
  • It may also reduce the size of the areola (dark skin around the nipple).
  • If your breasts are small or have lost volume after pregnancy or weight loss, breast implants may be inserted in conjunction with a mastopexy in order to increase their firmness and the size.
What can I expect after surgery?
  • Your greatest pain will be within the first 24-48 hours, but even during that period the pain is easily tolerated.
  • Expect to be bruised and swollen for approximately 10 to 14 days.
  • You may have drainage from the incisions for the first few days.
  • There will be skin tape on the incisions for several weeks.
  • It is important to avoid vigorous arm motion that requires pushing, pulling, and lifting heavy objects.
  • You may feel a burning, tenderness or numbness within the nipples.
  • You may also experience tingling, electric type shocks in the nipples and breasts. This signifies that the nerves are recuperating from the surgery

BREAST REDUCTION (Reduction Mammaplasty)

If breasts are too large or too heavy, they can become a burden causing poor posture, pain, deep crevices from bra straps, difficulty in physical activity or simply by making a woman self-conscious about her appearance. Breast reduction surgery can transform heavy, pendulous breasts into smaller more uplifted breasts. Breast reduction surgery often alleviates neck and shoulder pain. This is sometimes a covered benefit of some health insurance plans.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT BREAST REDUCTION

How long does the procedure take?
  • The procedure generally takes from three to four hours under general anesthesia. Patients should mainly rest the day after surgery.
    How is this done?
  • Techniques vary and depend upon the shape and size of your breasts.
For larger reductions, and inverted T incision is generally used
  • For smaller reductions, a more limited incision is used.
  • The extra fat, skin and breast tissue are removed.
  • The nipple and areola are then moved upward to their higher and more youthful position.
  • A new breast contour is created.
    What is the recovery?
  • It is important to avoid vigorous arm motion that requires pushing, pulling, and lifting heavy objects.
  • No heavy lifting or overhead arm activities for the first four to six weeks. No arm aerobic activities for the first six weeks.
  • You may have very tiny drains that will be removed the morning after surgery.

MALE BREAST REDUCTION

Gynecomastia is a condition in which the male breast is enlarged, and one or both breasts may look feminine. This over development may be corrected with surgical excision or a combination of liposuction and surgical excision. The procedure restores a more male contour to the chest wall
